On the 10th day of Christmas....

One of the things I don't miss about Christmas in the UK is the tradition of leaving all your Christmas decorations up until the 12th day of Christmas - January 6th. It is bad luck for the year if you leave them up after that date but you can't take them down before either - so there is a mad rush to get them all down in time having waited long after everything is past its best by date and is looking very tired indeed. So it is with much relish here, that come January 1st, all signs of Christmas are banished and tidied away in time for lunch. A much more satisfying start to the year for your average pragmatist.

Blog updates have fallen along the wayside lately to keep exercise, healthy eating and efforts to combat cynicism company. But then again, there hasn't been a whole lot of exciting things going on to share. We are really tremendously lucky that life is uneventful - full of the mundane and the daily rhythms that we are privileged to enjoy.

Happy New Year and hope it is a wonderful and uneventful 2014.
