So the drive wasn't too bad. We did just over 700 miles and arrived Albuquerque at 12.30am. However, we had forgotten to take into account the time change at the Texas/New Mexico border so had to drive an additional hour than the GPS told us - brains weren't really thinking.
The drive through Texas was not the most beautiful, but it wasn't uninteresting. The road went through small towns and ranches, the scenery was varied and you could see a long, long way. We saw mile long trains, incredible lightening storms and a lot of cattle. The children occasionally glanced up from the iPads!
We got to enjoy an unscheduled stop to enjoy the huge New Mexico night sky while we waited for Officer Basquez to write out the speeding violation. No road trip is complete without one.
Today we have a short 5 hour drive to Flagstaff so we can appreciate the Grand Canyon tomorrow. We are then heading to Vegas for the night, and Sunday we will make it to California. We should be pulling up in Goleta Monday night. Question now is whether we have enough clean clothes to see us through. Oh the tension.
Oh my...a ticket, clean clothes, night skies, lightening. What inreresting things....Hard to believe you are almost there. What a trip!!!
ReplyDelete"not the most beautiful"? Sigh....
